Master of Science (Computer Games Technology)
The MSc (Computer Games Technology) degree has over 200 graduates working at dozens of successful games companies around the world. Some of the courses you'll take in the master's program include Game Design and Development where in teams you'll develop a full one-level game prototype; Games Programming for the PC and Xbox where you'll learn advanced graphic techniques such as lighting, bump mapping, and environment mapping; the Games Marketplace where you'll learn about professional issues associated with the games industry; and Mathematics for Computer Games where you'll cover the mathematics necessary to program graphics and computer games.
This degree is granted from the University of Abertay Dundee in Scotland and is offered through Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada. The program consists of real-time videoconferencing, online meetings, labs and classroom work. The University of Abertay Dundee's MSc (Computer Games Technology) degree was founded by games companies and has been offered at Algoma University since September 2007. This degree offers international links to the European games industry as well as the North American games industry, and can equip graduates with the tools and networking opportunities necessary to secure a job in the competitive games industry.
Start Date: 3rd week in September
Degree Length: 15 months (can be completed in as little as 12 months with hard work and dedication over the summer months)
Part-Time Option: There is a part-time option available. Students choosing this option would study over the course of 2 years.
